Creating a logo and brand for Grip required looking towards the culture of cannabis in Detroit while also understanding, the brand is headquartered in West Michigan, not the city of Detroit. Maintaining this balance was key to creating a successful brand. Having an understanding and respect for the Detroit and also making sure we didn’t overstep.
Grip is a fun, powerful, and colorful brand that reflects the city that inspired it. Grip promises to create an experience that won’t soon be forgotten and encourages energetic times, the cultivation of strong relationships, and all-around good vibes.





Brand Kits
These brand kits were created for the Grip sales reps to promote Grip flower and other products to dispensaries throughout Michigan. The staying power of having a couple of items with the Grip logo around the stores remind managers about the brand and that their sales rep is just a phone call or text away.
I created these to be something a manager could not simply throw away. Receiving a box full of goodies in quality packaging makes a person stop and think, “Should I keep this?.” With these boxes, the answer was almost always a resounding yes, creating a large number of referrals and sales.
Website
For any brand, a website is a must. In the cannabis industry, this is one of the few spaces where one can truly promote themselves without fear of repercussions (deactivation etc.) The Grip website was created to promote the fun environment, inspire confidence in our brand, and also educate that public about the products that are offered.



Preroll Packaging
Coming to the market soon! Our sales team wanted to create products unlike anything other brands were offering. We created a GIANT 7 gram preroll, something we call a HomeRun. These prerolls were inspired by the baseball in Detroit, Go Tigers! In addition to the giant preroll, we also created a 5 pack of mini joints called “Bunts” that include matches in the packaging so they are good to smoke anywhere (at home or anywhere a DD has already been established.)

Brand Guide
After all the hard work put into creating a cohesive brand design, I wanted to ensure that it stays that way when it heads out into the world. Following these guidelines will make sure that the aesthetic standards are upheld and that the fun and energetic brand remains consistent across all platforms.
